What is this Visa?

Partner Visa (820 / 801) allows the partner or spouse of eligible Australian and New Zealanders to live in Australia.

Who is it for?

Partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is above 18 years old. You must be in Australia when you apply for this visa and when we decide your temporary visa application. Family who apply with you must also be in Australia.

How long does the Visa last?

The Temporary Partner Visa (820) lasts for 2 years while assessing eligibility for a Permanent Partner Visa (801).

How much are the fees/costs?

From A$9,095, for most applicants. From A$1,515 for Prospective Marriage Visa (300) holders.

How long does it take? (Processing Time)

Provisional Visa: Up to 27 months

Permanent Visa: Up to 30 months
