About the course
The Doctor of Philosophy (Integrated) is a doctoral research degree that begins with a cohort-based foundation year to build research capability, followed by an independent, supervised research project and thesis. The first year develops research design, methodology, writing and communication, and progress is conditional on achieving a 70% WAM. Projects may be interdisciplinary across ECU where supervision and facilities are available in your research field. The programme emphasises independent research, methodology, and thesis development aligned with the discipline's scholarly standards.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for advanced research and analytical careers that require designing and delivering substantial original research. Typical pathways include academic and research roles in universities, government and industry research organisations, and specialist positions in policy, evaluation, consulting, and R&D. The degree also supports progression to leadership roles where evidence-based decision-making and high-level communication are essential across diverse research disciplines.
