About the course
RMIT’s PhD (Law) is a research degree designed to develop advanced legal research capability through an original thesis under expert supervision. You’ll investigate a specialised area of law and build systematic, critical and analytical skills for high-level scholarly or applied research. The program supports independent inquiry and contribution to legal knowledge and practice through doctoral study in Law. The programme develops legal research methodology, scholarly writing, and critical analysis for advanced professional and academic legal practice.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue careers as academics and researchers, or apply rigorous legal research and analysis in government, regulatory bodies, policy organisations, think tanks, NGOs and specialist advisory roles. The doctorate can also support progression into senior legal and compliance positions where advanced research and critical evaluation are required.
