About the course
The Doctor of Creative Arts (DCA) is a practice-based doctoral degree for experienced creative practitioners who want to extend their art form through scholarly research. You will develop a substantial creative body of work alongside a written exegesis (around 30,000 words), demonstrating the connection between practice and inquiry. Research strengths span music, theatre, performance, creative writing, visual arts, digital media and design in a Doctoral creative arts context.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue advanced creative and research careers as independent artists, writer–researchers, creative directors, performers, composers, curators, or arts/creative producers, as well as roles in universities, cultural institutions and the creative industries. The degree supports leadership in practice-led research and interdisciplinary projects, building capability to develop and articulate original creative work with critical analysis in a Doctoral creative arts discipline. Preparing graduates for specialist research careers, professional practice, and doctoral study in the field.
