About the course
UQ’s Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is a 3-year postgraduate program for qualified general dentists seeking specialist registration. Delivered at the state-of-the-art Oral Health Centre at Herston, it combines advanced clinical training, diagnostic skills and research capability. You’ll complete extensive clinical placements across the Oral Health Centre and partner services, and undertake a supervised research project suitable for peer‑reviewed publication in specialist Dentistry.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for specialist registration and advanced clinical practice in areas such as orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral medicine, dento-maxillofacial radiology and special needs dentistry. Career pathways include specialist practice in private clinics, roles within public dental and hospital services, and clinical leadership across multidisciplinary oral health teams. The doctorate also supports involvement in research-informed specialist care and academic or clinical teaching roles in Dentistry.
