About the course
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) is a three-year full-time specialist training program for qualified dentists seeking to practise as periodontists. Delivered face to face at Westmead, it builds advanced clinical expertise in periodontology, including periodontal implants and surgery, supported by didactic teaching and supervised clinical experience. You will also complete a research project focused on periodontal surgery or practice in this doctoral-level Dentistry program.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for specialist careers in periodontics, providing advanced prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal and peri-implant disease. Career pathways include specialist periodontal practice, hospital and public dental services, and roles in multidisciplinary implant and surgical teams.
