About the course
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) is an intensive, specialist postgraduate program for qualified dentists seeking advanced training in endodontics, with a strong focus on root canal diagnosis and treatment. Delivered face to face and primarily based at the Sydney Dental Hospital, it combines supervised clinical practice with seminars and preclinical sessions, plus a supervised research project in endodontics or pulp biology. This is a 3-year full-time doctoral-level qualification in Dentistry.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for specialist practice in endodontics, including complex root canal therapy, diagnosis and management of pulpal and periapical disease, and referral-based care. The program’s extensive clinical component supports progression toward specialist recognition and work in private specialist clinics, hospital dental services, and public oral health settings. Research training also supports pathways into academic, clinical education, and clinician-researcher roles in doctoral-level Dentistry.
