About the course
This skill set prepares participants to test, tag and report on portable/handheld low voltage electrical equipment using a portable appliance tester (PAT). It is aimed at people who already work in a relevant field where electrical work is incidental or a regular part of their role, and builds additional competencies to support safe electrical equipment use and compliance. This is a short, face-to-face program delivered in Alice Springs and Casuarina. The programme develops engineering knowledge and technical skills aligned with its qualification level and industry expectations.
Career outcome
Graduates can apply these competencies in workplaces that require routine safety testing and tagging of cord-connected electrical equipment and cord assemblies. The training supports roles involved in maintaining electrical safety and compliance across facilities, construction, maintenance and service environments. A typical outcome is employment or duty expansion as a Test and Tag Technician, working with portable appliance testers and reporting processes in line with workplace requirements.
