About the course

This apprenticeship-based Certificate III provides trade training in electrotechnology for domestic, industrial and commercial settings. You’ll build skills to select, install, test, fault find, repair, maintain and commission electrical installations, appliances and equipment, aligned with Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) requirements for an ‘A Grade’ electrical licence pathway. It is delivered through Federation TAFE while you complete your apprenticeship. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for work as an electrician across residential, commercial and industrial environments. The course supports development of practical competencies in installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of low-voltage electrical systems and equipment, helping apprentices progress toward licensing requirements and employment in electrical contracting and broader electrotechnology roles. This is a Certificate III qualification in electrical engineering trades. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
