This pathway outlines how to qualify as a secondary teacher at UWA, typically by completing a three-year bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline followed by the Master of Teaching (Secondary). You’ll build professional knowledge through theory and real classroom practice and develop communication and technical skills to plan, evaluate and deliver effective learning. The Secondary School Teaching Pathways option provides a structured route into secondary teaching in Education & Teaching. The programme develops academic skills and education fundamentals for teaching-related degree pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers as secondary school teachers in Australia or overseas, teaching subjects aligned to their undergraduate discipline and the secondary curriculum learning areas. The pathway emphasises classroom-ready professional practice, lesson design and reflective improvement, supporting progression into roles such as subject teacher and future school or curriculum leadership positions.
