About the course
Deakin’s Master of Speech Pathology is a professional entry-to-practice degree delivered at the Geelong Waterfront campus. You will build clinical knowledge and practical experience to assess and support communication and swallowing needs across the lifespan, including complex communication needs and working with deaf communities. The course emphasises disability-informed practice, interprofessional teamwork and research literacy, with substantial supervised placements and simulation-based learning in speech pathology.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue work as a speech pathologist supporting children and adults with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties. Career opportunities span hospitals, community and disability services, rehabilitation, aged care, education settings, private practice and rural/regional services. The degree’s strong placement focus and partnerships help build work-ready skills and professional networks, and can also support pathways toward research training (PhD) in speech pathology.
