About the course

This interdisciplinary master’s develops the capability to tackle complex agrifood and environmental challenges driven by climate change and resource constraints. You can tailor study across environmental management, business, computing, biology, engineering and systems modelling to design innovative, practical solutions. Learning is supported by ANU experts and industry partnerships, including the Agrifood Innovation Institute, with opportunities to apply research to real-world problems.

What you might learn

You will build systems-thinking and problem-solving skills for agricultural innovation, learning to integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines and translate evidence into implementable solutions. The program strengthens capabilities in analysing complex systems, modelling and data-informed decision-making, and designing interventions that consider environmental, economic and social factors. Team-based work and applied projects develop professional practice, communication and industry-relevant research skills.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles across agrifood and natural-resource sectors where innovation and systems approaches are valued. Career paths may include agricultural or sustainability consultant, agrifood innovation specialist, environmental or resource management analyst, policy and program officer, project manager in government or industry, or roles in research and development and technology adoption. Skills are relevant to organisations working on food security, climate adaptation, and sustainable production systems.
