About the course
This specialised master’s degree prepares students to work in complex regulatory and governance environments shaped by risk, rapid change and transformative technologies. You build a strong foundation in the concepts, institutions and practices of regulation and governance, then explore contemporary policy challenges through electives, simulations and expert-led master classes. The program emphasises interactive learning, evidence-based approaches and equitable social outcomes, with a strong Asia–Pacific orientation.
What you might learn
Students develop the ability to analyse how regulation and governance are created, by whom, and for what purposes. The program builds skills in anticipating regulatory challenges, managing risk and evaluating policy options using evidence and “big ideas” from leading research in regulation and governance. Learning is interdisciplinary and applied, using case studies, clinics and master classes to strengthen strategic thinking and stakeholder-aware problem solving across public and private sector contexts.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for roles in government agencies, regulators, policy units, consultancies, NGOs and private organisations involved in designing or implementing regulatory solutions. Career directions include regulatory and policy analyst, governance adviser, compliance and risk specialist, program/policy officer, and roles in areas such as climate and environment, technology governance, health and safety, justice and crime, national security, and urban or infrastructure governance.
