About the course

Major shifts in laws governing the workplace and labour force in Australia have increased the importance of understanding the regulatory framework that shapes employment and labour relations practices. This course is designed for both legal practitioners and non-lawyers interested in employment and labour relations regulation, including those working in government, corporate management, HR, unions and employer groups. Delivered within the Melbourne Law Masters program, it focuses on advanced and current developments in employment and labour relations law and how these interact with industry governance and practice.

What you might learn

Students develop an advanced understanding of Australian employment and labour relations law and the regulatory settings that govern workplaces and labour markets. The course builds the capability to analyse recent legal developments and apply legal frameworks to practical employment and industrial relations contexts. Learners strengthen specialist knowledge relevant to advising, managing risk, and shaping policy or organisational practice in employment-related settings.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue or advance careers in employment and industrial relations law and related advisory roles across private practice, government and corporate settings.
