About the course
This course prepares selected psychology graduates for general registration as a psychologist in a range of settings in Australia. On completion of the course, you will have acquired the necessary psychotherapeutic and assessment skills and professional knowledge to undertake a final year of supervised practice in the field and obtain general registration under the '5 + 1 internship model' for registration. The course will develop you as an independent professional with a commitment to applying the theoretical, research, assessment and therapeutic skills involved in psychology.
Career outcome
These course outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework level 9 and Monash Graduate Attributes. Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that students will be able to:1. administer and interpret a comprehensive range of psychological tests and assessments2. plan, implement and evaluate a range of evidence-based interventions with diverse groups across the lifespan3. use interviewing skills and evidence-based principles to develop psychotherapeutic relationships with a wide range of clients from diverse groups and with various presenting issues4.
