About the course

The Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) prepares students for professional practice supporting individuals with learning and developmental challenges across education, health and community contexts. The course combines advanced training in psychological assessment, counselling and research methods with early and ongoing practical experience through supervised placements from semester one. Graduates meet the requirements to register as a general psychologist and can pursue the registrar pathway toward endorsement in Educational and Developmental Psychology.

What you might learn

Students develop foundational and specialist competencies in educational and developmental psychology, including evidence-based assessment, intervention planning, counselling and consultation. The program builds strong research literacy and applied skills to evaluate and design psychological interventions for developmental and learning needs. It also develops professional capabilities for multidisciplinary teamwork and ethical practice in real-world settings through extensive supervised placement experience.

Career outcome

Graduates can work as registered psychologists supporting children, adolescents and adults with developmental, learning and wellbeing needs. Employment pathways include roles in schools and education systems, hospitals and health services, community agencies, and private practice providing assessment, counselling, consultation and intervention. With further supervised registrar training, graduates may progress toward endorsement as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist.
