About the course
The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a higher degree by research completed entirely through an independent research project. Over two years full-time (or part-time equivalent), you work closely with a supervisory team to develop and submit a substantial thesis or a creative portfolio with an exegesis. Research projects are undertaken within broad general science areas, including natural or physical sciences, at Masters by research level in Sciences. The programme advances scientific inquiry through supervised laboratory or field research, data analysis, and thesis-based discovery.
Career outcome
This MPhil prepares graduates for advanced professional practice requiring complex research skills across academia, industry, community and government settings. It builds capability in planning and conducting independent research, analysing and communicating findings, and producing a substantial research output.
