About the course
This Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a research degree in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences with a specialisation in Mechatronic Engineering. You will undertake supervised research training and complete an independent thesis that develops advanced research capability and contributes new knowledge. The degree is designed for students aiming to deepen expertise and prepare for higher research or technical leadership in mechatronic engineering. The programme applies rigorous engineering research methods to address complex technical challenges and advance sustainable innovation.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue research-focused roles in industry or government, or continue to doctoral study. Typical pathways include R&D engineer, mechatronics/automation engineer, robotics engineer, systems engineer, or research assistant/associate roles in laboratories and technology organisations. The research skills developed support careers requiring investigation, experimentation, analysis and technical reporting in mechatronic engineering. Preparing graduates for engineering innovation, industrial research, and doctoral study.
