About the course

This one-year full-time Master of Peace and Conflict Studies explores the dynamics of violent conflict and the conditions that sustain peace, drawing on multiple disciplines and perspectives. With a strong Asia-Pacific emphasis and a global outlook, the program examines how different interpretations of peace and conflict shape policy and practice. Study is delivered online and prepares graduates to engage with complex security, humanitarian and political challenges at an advanced level in peace and conflict studies.

What you might learn

Students develop analytical and practical capabilities to understand drivers of violence, assess peacebuilding approaches, and evaluate responses by national and international actors. The program builds skills in negotiation and conflict resolution, critical engagement with key debates in the field, and applying ethical and political analysis to real-world cases. Learners strengthen research literacy and policy-relevant thinking to work effectively across government, NGOs and international contexts in peace and conflict studies.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue roles in government, international organisations, NGOs and civil society working on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, mediation and humanitarian action. Typical pathways include policy or program officer positions, research and analysis roles in security and foreign affairs, and work supporting diplomacy, development and human rights initiatives. The degree also supports careers in advocacy, community and crisis-response organisations requiring advanced expertise in peace and conflict studies.

Entry requirements

Applicants need a cognate bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least GPA 5/7, or pathways combining a cognate degree (minimum GPA 4/7) with either a relevant graduate certificate (GPA 4/7) or at least 3 years full-time equivalent relevant professional experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1. Alternatives include a cognate graduate certificate (GPA 4/7) plus experience, a cognate graduate diploma (GPA 4/7), or 10 years relevant experience. English requirements also apply.
