About the course
The Master of Music (Composition) is a research degree designed to build advanced compositional skills through the creation of substantial, complex works. You’ll develop and refine your individual artistic voice while engaging with research methods and scholarly practice. The program supports specialisations such as electro-acoustic, ensemble/orchestral, jazz, and music theatre composition, alongside limited coursework and electives at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Graduates may pursue careers as professional composers and creator-researchers across contemporary and classical music contexts. Opportunities can include composing for ensembles and orchestras, electro-acoustic and screen media work, music theatre and jazz composition, commissions and collaborations with performers, and practice-led research roles.
