About the course
The Master of Molecular Biology at The University of Queensland builds advanced knowledge and practical laboratory skills for modern molecular biology research and industry. You’ll develop expertise in gene and protein structure and function, genome sequencing and recombinant DNA methods, and gain training across bioinformatics, molecular genetics, biomolecular structure, immunology and related techniques. The program includes a research-focused internship or project supported by UQ’s extensive research facilities.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles in molecular biology and biotechnology across research institutes, universities, hospitals and biomedical or biotech companies. Skills in molecular cloning, protein engineering, genomics and bioinformatics support careers such as molecular biologist, research scientist/assistant, laboratory scientist, biotech specialist, bioinformatics-focused analyst, or R&D associate. The program also provides a strong foundation for further research training in molecular and life sciences.
