About the course
This online micro-credential supports registered midwives to develop preceptorship skills for supervising and supporting Bachelor of Midwifery (graduate entry) students in practice settings. It focuses on effective student support, guidance and assessment in the clinical environment, and contributes to meeting Ahpra Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. This short course is targeted to midwifery professional practice. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
On completion, registered midwives can use the awarded CPD hours to support Ahpra continuing professional development obligations and demonstrate capability in student supervision. The course is designed for midwives acting as student preceptors in maternity and clinical care environments, strengthening workplace readiness for roles involving mentoring, clinical teaching and supporting midwifery students. This outcome aligns with a short course in Nursing. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
