About the course
This flexible double masters lets you build a single two-year graduate award by combining two ANU master’s degrees. You select from a range of options across areas such as history, anthropology, art, social research, management, accounting and public policy. Designed for adaptability, the program allows you to tailor study to your interests and career ambitions while completing 96 units through two approved master’s programs.
What you might learn
You will develop advanced skills in analysing and synthesising scholarship across your chosen disciplines, and apply critical thinking to key interpretations and debates. The program builds research capability, including technical skills for independent inquiry, and strengthens communication through clear, coherent presentation to different audiences. It culminates in undertaking an independent research project, supporting deeper expertise across two complementary fields.

Graduates can pursue diverse professional pathways by pairing two specialised master’s qualifications. Depending on the chosen combination, outcomes may include roles in policy and public administration, diplomacy and international affairs, strategy and defence, project and program leadership, management, research and evaluation, cultural and heritage sectors, museums and curation, criminology and justice-related work, and further academic or applied research careers in government, NGOs, and industry.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet the academic/non-academic and English language requirements for both masters chosen. Minimum entry is an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least GPA 5.0/7.0; admission is competitive and applicants are ranked using a calculated GPA (typically excluding the final semester), with possible further ranking using earlier-semester GPA and/or higher English proficiency. Some combinations may have extra requirements such as a portfolio for Contemporary Art Practices.
