About the course
This Master of Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) by research lets you contribute to industry-focused biomedical projects and develop solutions to engineering problems that affect the human body. You will undertake independent, supervised research and produce a thesis aligned with RMIT’s biomedical engineering strengths and facilities. The degree builds advanced research capability and specialist expertise in biomedical engineering at masters level. The programme strengthens advanced engineering design, systems analysis, and innovation management for complex industry projects.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue research and advanced technical roles in biomedical engineering across medical device development, rehabilitation and assistive technologies, health technology innovation, and R&D in industry, hospitals or universities. The research training also supports progression to doctoral study and careers involving experimental design, data analysis, and translating engineering solutions into healthcare applications. Outcomes align with a masters by research pathway in biomedical engineering.
