Development Studies / Laws (Honours)

About the course

This combined degree examines the causes and consequences of unequal development—such as poverty, inequality and environmental sustainability—while building complementary legal knowledge. You will analyse policy options for a more equitable and sustainable future and broaden your perspective through core development studies alongside key areas of law. Graduates complete a Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree in Law with an added development studies focus. The programme builds legal reasoning, case analysis, and professional ethics for legal practice and public service pathways.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles across international aid and development, government and policy, consulting, NGOs and community organisations, supported by strong legal and analytical skills. Career pathways may include development or policy roles, advocacy and research, community development, urban and regional planning, and environmental law-related work. Outcomes align with a Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree in Law combined with development studies. Preparing graduates for legal practice, paralegal, compliance, and public sector legal support roles.
