About the course
The Master of Economic Policy is a two-year program providing rigorous training in policy economics with a strong focus on national policy issues. It is designed for high-performing graduates seeking advanced analytical capability for roles in government and policy agencies. The program can also accommodate a regional economic policy focus through elective coursework and applied research components.
What you might learn
You will develop advanced skills in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and quantitative methods used in real-world policy analysis. The degree builds capability to evaluate policy options using evidence, modelling and data, and to communicate economic reasoning clearly. Through compulsory core courses and a concluding applied component, you gain tools to address complex economic policy problems.

Graduates are prepared for economics and policy roles in public-sector agencies such as central government departments, as well as positions in regulators and policy-focused organisations. Entry requirements
Applicants need a Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0. Admission is competitive and requires meeting ANU English language requirements in addition to academic criteria. Applicants may be ranked using GPA calculations (including a GPA excluding the final semester, and potentially other semester-based GPAs) and, if required, higher English proficiency evidence.
