About the course
The Master of Design is a masters-by-research degree that supports independent, thesis-based investigation into design practice and design thinking. You work with expert supervision to develop a substantial research project, contributing new knowledge and exploring contemporary issues across design disciplines. Study is delivered on campus at Melbourne City with flexible full-time or part-time options. This is a Master by Research in design. The programme advances creative direction, digital production, and design thinking for professional media and innovation-led studios.

Graduates pursue research-focused and specialist careers in design practice, innovation and strategy, and academia. Pathways may include design researcher, design strategist, service/experience design roles, or progression to doctoral study, working within studios, industry, government, or universities.
