Master of Cyber Security

About the course

UQ’s Master of Cyber Security develops advanced technical capability alongside strategic insight to address real-world security challenges. You’ll study areas such as cryptography, cyber defence, cyber criminology and leadership, informed by industry and government experts. The program emphasises an interdisciplinary cohort experience and includes an industry or research-based project to build professional networks and workforce readiness at a technological, organisational or policy level.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for cyber security roles across industry and government, combining specialist technical skills with leadership and policy awareness. Career paths may include cyber security analyst, cyber defence specialist, security architect, incident response practitioner, governance/risk/compliance roles, or advisory positions supporting organisational resilience. The industry or research project strengthens practical experience and employability for advanced cyber security work in a Master’s-level computing discipline.
