About the course
QUT’s Master of Counselling develops advanced counselling knowledge and practical skills for contemporary therapeutic work. You’ll build a personalised, integrative and values-driven approach grounded in social justice and inclusion, drawing on frameworks such as trauma-informed practice, relational neuroscience and competency-based counselling. Study is delivered in a blended mode with online learning plus intensive on-campus sessions and applied practice experiences. This is a master’s coursework qualification in counselling.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for advanced counselling roles across community, health and wellbeing, education, government and not-for-profit settings. The course builds capability in collaborative counselling, group work and professional supervision, supporting work with individuals, families and diverse communities. With supervised clinical experience and placement opportunities, you may pursue roles such as counsellor, psychotherapy practitioner, group facilitator, counselling supervisor or program support specialist.
