About the course

The Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies is an interdisciplinary program focused on understanding contemporary China and its role in the world, including Australia–China links across economic, cultural, social and political domains. Students develop broad knowledge of China’s people, environment, cultures, society, politics and economy through study across multiple disciplines. The course also offers opportunities such as an internship and can provide a pathway for students considering future PhD study.

What you might learn

Students build a comprehensive, research-informed understanding of contemporary China using interdisciplinary perspectives. They develop the ability to analyse political, economic, social and cultural issues and apply theory to real-world contexts through flexible subject choices. The program also supports professional readiness via optional internship experiences and academic preparation for potential doctoral study.

Career outcome
