About the course

The Master of Clinical Nursing (ACU Online) builds advanced clinical nursing knowledge for registered nurses through flexible study and specialty-focused pathways. Students can progress via exit points at Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma levels and choose a specialisation such as cardiac care, intensive care, perioperative, renal or gerontological nursing. The course offers a choice of Project or Research stream to develop evidence-based practice, leadership and inquiry skills in master’s-level nursing.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue specialist and leadership roles across government and private healthcare services, aligned to their chosen specialty area. Typical opportunities include Clinical Nurse Specialist positions, nursing education roles, and clinical leadership or management roles within wards, units and broader health services. Depending on the pathway, graduates may also use the Research or Project stream as a platform for workplace improvement initiatives or further postgraduate study and research in master’s-level nursing.
