About the course

This course develops foundational and advanced knowledge of Australian migration law and practice for those aiming to work in the migration advice sector. It builds practical skills needed to support clients across visa pathways and related processes, and allows further specialisation through elective study after the associated graduate diploma. The program is designed to strengthen professional capability for master-level practice in law. The programme develops advanced legal analysis, professional practice skills, and specialist knowledge for complex legal and regulatory contexts.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue work in migration advice and related legal and policy settings, including roles as registered migration agents (subject to additional requirements), migration-focused lawyers, and officers in government agencies handling migration matters. Career paths can also include operating a small migration agency, working with NGOs supporting migrants and refugees, research roles in migration policy, education agency work, and academic teaching in migration law at a master’s level.
