About the course

The Master of Applied Spatial Science is designed to upskill students in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing, starting from fundamentals and progressing to advanced geospatial analysis. Suited to graduates from any discipline with little or no prior spatial background, it builds practical capability to address real-world challenges across areas such as environment, health, agriculture, mining and emergency management. This is a master coursework programme in applied spatial science.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue geospatial roles across government, industry and research, applying GIS and earth observation to decision-making and analysis. Typical careers include GIS analyst/technician, remote sensing specialist, earth observation analyst/scientist, geospatial intelligence analyst, GIS manager and geospatial data scientist, as well as environmental consulting positions. The degree supports career change or progression into geospatial and remote sensing work as a master coursework qualification in spatial science.
