About the course

CDU’s Master of Applied Linguistics develops advanced capability to analyse, evaluate and apply linguistic knowledge to language use across diverse contexts. You build strong theoretical foundations and explore contextualised approaches relevant to practice and research, including First Nations, Australian, Asian and global perspectives. Study is available on campus or online, full-time or part-time, with the option to tailor your program through electives and a capstone research project in an area of interest.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue roles in applied linguistics and language-focused professional settings, including language education and training, TESOL-related practice, assessment and testing, and policy or program development where language use is central. The course supports work across local to global contexts and can contribute to continuing professional development for linguists and language teachers. It may also provide a pathway to further research study at PhD level in applied linguistics.
