About the course

The VCE Vocational Major (VM) is a two-year vocational and applied learning program within the Victorian Certificate of Education, designed for students who prefer hands-on, real-world learning. Delivered at Federation College, it provides a supportive and inclusive environment with project-based learning, employability skill development and structured workplace learning opportunities. It helps students complete senior secondary education while preparing for further training, apprenticeships or work as a High School qualification.

Career outcome

This program supports students to complete Year 12 through an applied-learning pathway and build work-ready capabilities such as communication, teamwork, initiative and time management. Graduates are prepared to transition into apprenticeships and traineeships, VET/TAFE study, non-ATAR pathways into university, or direct entry to the workforce. Outcomes focus on employability and pathway readiness rather than a single occupation, aligned to a High School level qualification in Others. Supporting progression into undergraduate Education and teaching degree programmes.
