About the course
The Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation is a pathway for students who want to progress toward primary teaching. Delivered on campus at RMIT’s Melbourne City campus, it builds foundational knowledge of education and learning, along with practical preparation for further study in teacher education. The program is designed to help you develop confidence for study and future work in school-related support settings within education and teaching. The programme develops classroom assistance skills, child development knowledge, and educational support practice.
Career outcome
Graduates may seek entry-level roles supporting learning and classroom activities in education settings. Typical opportunities include teacher aide, teacher assistant, education aide and education assistant (special needs), as well as home tutor roles. The diploma can also support progression into further teacher education study, providing an initial credential and experience aligned with education and teaching pathways at diploma level. Preparing graduates for teacher aide, early childhood support, and education assistant roles, or degree articulation.
