About the course
The Graduate Diploma in Science (Advanced) is designed for students who already have an undergraduate major in an eligible science stream and want to extend their studies with 100 additional points of advanced-level learning. It deepens discipline knowledge and builds awareness of current developments and issues in the chosen area, with the option to include a research component. Available streams include BioSciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics.
What you might learn
Students develop more advanced understanding in their undergraduate science major through further specialised coursework and, where chosen, research-based study. The course aims to strengthen conceptual and analytical capability in the selected stream while building the ability to engage with contemporary developments and issues in the discipline. It also provides an opportunity to broaden or deepen preparation for further study or research pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue roles that benefit from advanced scientific knowledge and analytical skills across sectors such as research, government, education support, and science-based industry. Depending on the stream, pathways can align with work in biological sciences, earth and environmental fields, data/mathematical analysis, or physics-related technical areas. The optional research component can also support progression toward further research study.
