About the course

Designed for qualified primary or secondary teachers, this one-year online graduate diploma supports a fast transition into early childhood education (birth to five). You’ll build specialist knowledge in child development, play-based and inclusive pedagogy, and gain up to 60 days of professional placement with flexible options. The program also incorporates Indigenous ways of knowing and aligns with key early childhood and teacher registration expectations for graduate-level practice in education.

Career outcome

Graduates can move into early childhood teaching roles across long-day care centres, kindergartens and preschool programs, applying existing classroom experience to younger learners. The qualification can also support progression into leadership, management, policy or advisory work within early childhood services. Typical roles include long-day care teacher, kindergarten teacher, childcare educator, centre manager/director, and curriculum or policy adviser in the early childhood education sector at graduate diploma level.

Entry requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Initial Teacher Education.
