About the course

The Graduate Diploma in Construction Law provides construction lawyers and professionals in building, construction, engineering and related industries with specialised legal knowledge in construction law. Students learn from leading lecturers and study alongside an international cohort while exploring how construction law interacts with the commercial realities and professional practice of the construction industry. The program’s flexible structure supports working professionals and is part of the Melbourne Law Masters suite.

What you might learn

Students develop a thorough understanding of construction law and how it operates in real-world construction and infrastructure projects. The course aims to build capability in analysing legal issues that arise in construction industry practice and in applying legal principles in commercial and professional contexts. It also supports both law and non-law graduates to deepen specialist knowledge to progress in construction-related roles.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue or advance careers in construction law and construction-related legal practice, including roles advising on building and engineering projects and industry compliance. The qualification can support progression for professionals working in construction, engineering and associated industries who need construction-law expertise for project delivery and dispute contexts. It is also relevant to legal and commercial professionals working with construction contracts and industry practice.
