About the course
This nationally recognised diploma is a one-year, full-time, ballet-focused programme at WAAPA for dancers aiming for professional company work. You build technical and creative capability through intensive training in ballet, pointe, pas de deux and solos, alongside contemporary technique, choreography and supporting studies such as dance history, music for dance, anatomy, nutrition and fitness, with performance opportunities. This is a Diploma in Performing Arts. The programme trains digital design tools, visual production, and portfolio development for creative workplaces.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for entry-level pathways into the professional dance industry, particularly in classical ballet contexts. The course supports development toward audition readiness, ensemble and performance work, and further vocational training such as progression to the Advanced Diploma. Typical directions include dancer roles in professional or project-based companies, performance productions, and related dance work requiring strong classical technique.
