About the course
This nationally recognised diploma is the first year of WAAPA’s two-year vocational Production and Design program. It develops practical capability in live production technical areas such as lighting, set/scenery, props and stage management. You gain hands-on experience by assisting on WAAPA productions and progressively taking on designated technical responsibilities. This is a Diploma qualification in performing arts production and technical services. The programme trains digital design tools, visual production, and portfolio development for creative workplaces.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles supporting live performance and event productions, with skills aligned to entertainment industry needs. Experience gained through WAAPA productions supports work across theatre and live events in areas like lighting and technical assistance, stage management support, props/scenery and production crew operations. This Diploma provides vocational preparation for live production and technical services in the performing arts sector. Preparing graduates for junior designer, production assistant, and multimedia support roles, or degree articulation.
