About the course
This pre-apprenticeship Certificate II in Civil Construction develops practical, job-ready skills for entry into civil construction work and apprenticeships. You’ll learn core site tasks such as service location and protection, measuring and levelling, manual excavation, plan reading, traffic management, safe work practices and communication. Training includes extensive hands-on equipment operation using modern simulators and machinery across VU’s industry-linked facilities for Certificate-level civil construction training.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to begin an apprenticeship or entry-level work in the civil construction sector. The course supports readiness for operational roles that involve basic civil works tasks under supervision, using tools, small plant and construction equipment safely. Pathways may include further vocational study and employment supporting roadworks, earthworks, site preparation and traffic management activities within the civil construction industry at Certificate II level. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
