About the course
This Certificate III in Parks and Gardens is an entry-level horticulture qualification designed for apprentices already working in the industry. You’ll build practical, job-ready skills for maintaining gardens and public parks, including identifying plants, managing weeds, pests and diseases, and safely operating and maintaining machinery and equipment. Training is supported by experienced industry staff and focuses on learning while you work in a parks and gardens setting. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.
Career outcome
Graduates can work across parks, public open spaces, gardens and turf environments where practical horticulture skills are needed. Typical roles include parks and gardens tradesperson, landscape gardener and greenkeeper, supporting routine maintenance and improvement of landscaped areas. The qualification is suited to apprentices building capability in plant identification, pest and weed control, and safe use of equipment in a Certificate III-level parks and gardens workplace. Preparing graduates for laboratory assistant, quality control, and science technician roles, or degree articulation.
