About the course
This entry-level course prepares you for work as an educator in Outside School Hours Care and school age education and care, aligned to the National Quality Framework. You’ll learn to support children’s wellbeing and development within an approved learning framework and to plan and deliver play and leisure experiences with varying supervision. Completion requires at least 320 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia. The programme develops classroom assistance skills, child development knowledge, and educational support practice.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting children in outside school hours care and vacation care (school age care) services, working under the National Quality Framework. Typical work involves helping implement approved learning frameworks, promoting children’s wellbeing and development, and delivering play and leisure programs in supervised settings. This Certificate III supports employment as an Outside School Hours Care Educator in education and care services. Preparing graduates for teacher aide, early childhood support, and education assistant roles, or degree articulation.
