About the course

This entry-level apprenticeship qualification prepares you for work in furniture finishing while you earn and learn on the job or in TAFE Queensland’s specialist furniture-making facilities. You’ll develop practical skills to prepare timber surfaces, polish fine timber items (including furniture and instruments), interpret plans, and estimate and cost jobs, including graining and decorative finishes. This Certificate III supports a trade pathway in furniture finishing. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Graduates can pursue roles in furniture and timber-product finishing across manufacturing, retail trade and construction settings.
