About the course
This apprenticeship-focused qualification trains you to become a trade qualified caster/moulder in the manufacturing sector. You’ll build practical capability in producing sand moulds and cores, pouring molten metal for ferrous and non-ferrous castings, and completing processes such as heat treatment and simulation-supported production. The course is designed to support entry and progression in specialist foundry work through a Certificate III engineering trade pathway. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles in foundry and casting operations where metal components are produced for engineering, transport, construction, mining and manufacturing. Typical job outcomes include casting and moulding tradesperson (foundry), production supervision/management pathways, and testing roles involved in destructive or non-destructive inspection of cast products. This Certificate III engineering trade qualification supports progression into technical design and fabrication-related career streams.
