About the course
This apprenticeship-style qualification prepares you to work as a carpenter in the building and construction industry. You’ll develop practical trade skills to construct, install, finish and repair structures and fixtures across residential, commercial and industrial settings. Training covers using tools, equipment and materials to build wall and ceiling frames, pitched and advanced roofs and eaves, and formwork for footings and slabs. This is a Certificate III course in carpentry. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue work in the building and construction industry as a carpenter and joiner, supporting residential, commercial and industrial projects. Typical work includes framing, roofing and eaves, installing and finishing fixtures, and constructing and dismantling formwork for concrete footings and slabs. This qualification supports employment with building contractors or related construction employers as a Certificate III-level carpentry tradesperson. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
