About the course

This apprenticeship-only Certificate III provides hands-on training for aspiring trade-level cabinet makers. You’ll combine on-the-job experience with face-to-face on-campus theory and practical workshops to build skills for furniture making, manufacturing and installation. The program is designed to develop job-ready capability for work in cabinetmaking and timber technology at Certificate III level in the building and construction trades. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Career outcome

Graduates are qualified tradespeople for the cabinetmaking and furnishing industry, supporting work in workshop and site-based roles. Typical pathways include cabinet maker, furniture maker/manufacturer and furniture or cabinetry installer, with opportunities across residential and commercial fit-outs. The qualification can also support progression into related design, building and construction work as a Certificate III trade in the built environment sector. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
