About the course
This practical Certificate III develops skills to service and repair electric vehicles, covering key systems such as electric engines, transmissions and suspension while meeting AS 5732 standards. You’ll learn to diagnose faults, discuss issues with vehicle owners, and repair and service a range of automotive systems using current techniques and technology supported by industry partners. This is a Certificate III qualification in automotive electric vehicle technology. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue trade roles working on electric light or heavy vehicles, applying diagnostic and repair skills across EV drivetrains and related automotive systems. Typical outcomes include roles such as Automotive Electric Light Vehicle Technician or Automotive Electric Heavy Vehicle Technician, supporting service, maintenance and repair work in workshops and fleet environments. This is a Certificate III pathway into automotive electric vehicle mechanical work. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
