About the course
This entry-level qualification introduces you to the animal care industry and prepares you to support animal wellbeing in settings such as kennels, catteries, shelters, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. You’ll learn ethical and humane animal care practices, including hygiene routines, feeding and watering, basic first aid and assisting with animal health care, alongside workplace communication, WHS and sustainable work practices. This is a Certificate II program in Veterinary Science.
Career outcome
Graduates can seek assistant roles in animal care environments where routine care and support tasks are required. Typical opportunities include animal shelter attendant work, assisting dog grooming services, and supporting staff in veterinary practices and related animal facilities. The course also provides a pathway to further study in animal care disciplines. This is a Certificate II qualification aligned with Veterinary Science outcomes. Preparing graduates for laboratory assistant, quality control, and science technician roles, or degree articulation.
